The Core OS

Operating System - Re-envisioned The Core OS is a re-invisioning of what an operating system is. Every piece and function in an operating system has been re-evaluated for its goals and driving factors, and rebuilt in ways that are both more efficient, as well as better able to adapt to the unknown changes that will be necessary in the future, with little or no re-work.

- Simple settings for security, storage, replication, and accessibility let the system automatically manage it all for you. (And yes, you can manually override anything if you really feel the need.)

- Collaborate automatically with any data, from anywhere you and the other people you're working with have access to.

Power-Users - Change the behavior of your system in ways that are safe, easy, stable, and will work for other people.
Reference chunks of data from anywhere and have them automatically update as the source updates.
New tools and updates happen seamlessly and automatically by the system, only needing your permission if you want them to affect other things in your system or across the network.

Smart Data, not Dumb Data One of the key components around which The Core OS is founded is the concept of Smart Data. Smart Data is an Intelligence Infrastructure that describes both the information and the way it relates to other information. This means that the system can, without custom coding, figure out how to implement most directions using just the pieces it already has. It means it can usually correctly recognize and even reply in natural language, even if that is a combination of words from different languages in a heavy accent. At a high-concept level, it allows the system to relate information in ways similar to how humans do, which in turn makes it much easier for the system to automatically do the right thing when given vague, shortcut, garbled, or even overly-simplistic instructions.

Closed or Open Source? This is always an important issue to figure out for any project. The core of The Core OS will be open source. At some point soon, we'll be updating code to GitHub.
